Yes Folks, the G1 Google Phone is arriving in South Africa as the HTC Dream and will soon be available to all MTN network subscribers.
MyBroadband earlier reported that the HTC Dream might even be available as soon as next week. The HTC Dream will feature the highly anticipated Google Android software which allows one touch access to Google Apps like Google Maps, Google Search, YouTube and Gmail.
MTN says that:
“Unlike other operating systems that treat search functionality as an ‘extra’, the entire Android operating system was molded around the core of search functionality. The software is completely open source and allows users to download a host of free applications as well as customize every facet of the HTC Dream, from the dialer, browser and photo viewer, to the core applications normally locked into the operating system.”
Although it remains to be seen whether the HTC Dream will be come a real competitor on the Smart Phone market, it really looks an interesting prospect!
