Wow, I don’t know what it is, but this week has just been awful! We have seen the passing of icons like Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, the collapse of a rugby legend in Joost van der Westhuizen and now the death of Mean Mr Mustard band member Freddy Hayward from an apparent heart attack after a show.
Johannesburg – Mean Mr Mustard band member Freddy Hayward has died after an apparent heart attack, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.
Hayward complained to band members of chest pain after a performance on Saturday night at the Kirkwood Wildlife Festival in the Eastern Cape, spokesperson Gerda Swart said.
The bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the band, who was in his thirties, was immediately attended to by paramedics.
He was rushed to a hospital by ambulance, but died on his way to hospital. A post mortem would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
