Mobile web portal Mjoy has launched a new service that enables any user from anywhere in the world to sms freely between continents. No charges, no catches. This is made possible through careful placement of non intrusive advertisements…we’ll see how long that lasts…
According to Oliver Wimmeroth, marketing manager for Venista Holdings (Mjoy’s operating company): “Mjoy is a service for people who want to stop wasting money on communications, mobile services and content,” He also says that free worldwide messaging is only the beginning of Mjoy, they will also feature social media opportunities, widgets, news and social interaction for all its visitors.
Anyway, I haven’t given it a try yet, but Mjoy can be accessed here – www.mjoy.com
Let me know if you’ve used this service before and if its worth looking into?

I’d just like to add that mjoy has just launched a new features called “Post it!”, allowing users to micro-blog from their phones to a global audience. It can also be filtered by friends or even by national news streams, so you know who’s posting their news from their phones in South Africa.

Mjoy looks like another MXIT type application as far as sms is concerned. mahalaSMS doesn’t seem to say much about how it works, but I imagine they also use up characters for ads.
