Wood House Design : Modern Wood Homes

Fri, Apr 6, 2012

Architect Susanne Nobis did not only design and build this modern wood house for her family and home office, but she also gets to live in this wonderful piece of artistic architecture. Nobis house is situated in the beautiful Berg area near Lake Starnberg , used by residents of the nearby city of Munich for a luxury retreat destination.

This minimalist beauty looks like a modern boathouse made from wood usually found at nearby lakes. Susanne Nobis’s house is built on 60-centimeter high illuminated legs which is essential as the water levels in the surrounding area rise quite often. The building structure, mainly of wood and glass, includes two separate but connected houses. House one includes living, eating and cooking functions on the ground floor, and the “gallery” above it. House 2 includes two offices and guest room are on the ground floor, bedrooms and bathrooms above it.
